“Charlotte’s Web” at Raleigh Little Theater
I had forgotten what a beautiful story “Charlotte’s Web,” by E.B. White is. Tonight, I got a nice reminder in the form of seeing it performed on stage at the Raleigh Little Theater. What a fantastic setting (I’d never been to this theater before), to see the production with my family.
This is the first play that either of the boys has seen. Andrew isn’t one to say, “Oh my gosh, that was the greatest thing since sliced bread!” But, he did say he enjoyed it, which is a lot. In fact, I could tell how much fun he was having just by watching his reactions as I sat beside him. Nicholas didn’t fall asleep, or even come close, although the play didn’t begin until their bedtime.
This production was so well envisioned. I loved Wilbur, and appreciated Charlotte even more. The web spinning, climbing, and weaving of words by Charlotte was very creative. I felt like, although this production was geared toward children, the play was just as accessible to us grown-ups in the audience.
The story of Wilbur and Charlotte’s friendship as seen on the stage is one I’ll never forget. Thank you, Raleigh Little Theater, for a wonderful night out with my family.
